Portland Blossoms

February 15th, 2010

Since it’s still snowy and cold in Ohio I wanted to post another shot from our trip to New England in June 2009. Here is a shot of the blossoms at Portland Head Lighthouse in Portland, Maine. It’s hard to find a picture of Portland Head that doesn’t include these prolific pink flowers.

Another shot from Dawes, this one on the hill overlooking the lake. There’s a whole row of Crab apple trees along the road and each one was covered with these pink-ish purple flowers. This tree had the most color.

Finally — a picture not from the archive! This shot is from the arboretum in my town. The recent warm trend has sparked all the trees and flowers into action and a rush of green (and pink) has swept over the entire park. Caught this shot in the evening on one of the island, shooting back toward the shore.

Caught this shot of the Oak Island Lighthouse while visiting the ocean. We took a ferry from Fort Fischer to Southport then drove down to Oak Island. Great weather and a great weekend.
